Found this in Princeton near a trail in the woods so it is possible that someone deposited it there, however I am still uncertain as to what it could be from. Thankful for any help.

    Hello Steven,

I can see why this unusual seed caught your eye. This seed looks similar to sapote, Pouteria sapota in the Sapotaceae family. The fruits can be eaten raw, so this may be a discarded seed? There are other edible fruits in this family, but the large size, shape, and the dull seed scar reminds me of the Pouteria genus.

Please let us know what you think!

    I hope this helps, Jennifer
