    Hello,
can someone help us identify these seeds, please?
We find them in Triticum sp. from Russia.

    Thank you.

    Hello Rachel,

These seeds look like a Silene species to me. Silene spp. seed is generally 1-1.5 mm long, and from the image scale bar, it appears that these seeds are 2-2.5 mm long? I’m not sure if I interpreted that correctly.

If the seeds are 1.5 mm long, they most closely resemble immature Silene noctiflora seeds. There are low tubercles (warts or small bumps) in irregular rows with star-shaped bases and 2 small pads on either side of the hilum which are features of this species.

    I hope this helps, Jennifer
